Prof Kelly Chibale has been named one of the great minds in pharma

The Power List 2020 by American the Medicine Maker (https://themedicinemaker.com/power-list/2020) celebrates the great innovative minds in small molecules, biopharmaceuticals, and advanced medicine. Prof Kelly Chibale made it to the top 60 influencers in the pharmaceutical industry, and the top 20 innovative minds in small molecules medicine.
Professor Kelly Chibale is founder and director of the Drug Discovery and Development Centre (H3D) at the University of Cape Town. As an advocate in the fight against the perception that Africa is unable to contribute to the international economy, H3D is uniquely positioned to provide malaria and Tuberculosis treatment options developed in Africa, for the African population.
“I believe polypharmacology will go a long way to address and delay the emergence of drug resistance arising from mutations in a single target. It will also have the added advantage of benefiting patients by minimizing the pill burden and cost associated with combination drug regimens which currently require two or more small molecules that inhibit different single targets to be combined."
